The "Land Down Under" is the champion of varietal wines made with one single grapevariety (Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz). A warm climate and a permanent search to make an ideal combination grapevariety/appropriate soil-type have resulted in a high quality wineproduction with nice typical touches. Hunter Valley is famous for Chardonnay. Margaret River for refreshing whites and classic, elegant Bordeaux-like reds. Victoria and Coonawarra are the ideal soils for top Cabernets and Shiraz. Port-wines and especially the dessertwines made with Muscat or Tokay grapes, released after fifteen or more years, are wonderful
